The MK8 Golf GTi/R intake is a completely redesigned version of the stock intake, extending all the way to the turbo inlet. Taking cues from the RS3 intake, the design maximizes the use of available space to create an intake that can support power levels ranging from stock hybrid to full-frame turbo setups. It is engineered to provide the highest airflow while maintaining the lowest possible intake temperatures. Every component is designed to ensure a smooth and free-flowing path to the turbo. The restrictive stock 73mm diameter inlet pipe has been replaced with a larger 94mm diameter inlet pipe. The filter itself has an outer diameter of 192mm or 7.5 inches and boasts a filtration surface area of over 110,000 mm². The patented Venturi housing is designed to provide the maximum internal volume possible for the Golf engine bay while ensuring laminar flow to the turbo pipe. Finally, the channel closes the filter opening at the front of the intake panel, but is no longer limited to just the stock intake feed. The front of the channel is lifted to provide an additional opening equivalent to an extra 7-inch diameter hole where air will be pulled behind the hood. The resulting system can significantly increase airflow from the stock airbox while keeping intake temperatures low with its closed design.
